SABHA is here to support anyone wanting to compete in the sport of Barrel Racing & Pole Bending!
SA Barrel Horse Association supports and encourages all persons whether they are a competitive participant or a beginner - just come out have a go. Barrel racing can be seen at Rodeo’s, Pony Club, western shows, gymkhanas and more, we are a club that supports those wanting to learn the sport. Barrel Racing & Pole Bending are horse and rider combination that competes in a timed event. End of year points are determined how that combination places at each event in relevant classes. Below is a list of our Divisions (classes).
In 2013 we become affiliated with the Australian Barrel Horse Association (ABHA).
Please take a moment to read our barrel race sections below – any queries direct them to the committee.
At the South Australian Barrel Horse Association, were about providing the following for our members:

A Tiny Tot is any person who is not able to control their mount without aid. A lead rope must be attached to the horse/pony and the rider assisted by the handler in led events. The rider must be 7 or under as of the 1st July each calendar year.
An assisted rider is any person who requires assistance to compete. The assistant is required to be in the arena at all times. The rider must be over 7 and under 12 years old as or under.
This was created in honour of a man who spent a lot of time and effort not only competing within our club but as a committee member for a number of years.
It is to encourage everyone to compete without the pressure of the open riders and horses.

Riders that are not SABHA financial members are not eligible to win the end of season Dave Waters Perpetual Trophy.
